The Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board (TNUSRB) has released Notification No. 01/2025 on April 4, 2025, inviting online applications for the direct recruitment of Sub-Inspectors of Police in Taluk and Armed Reserve (AR) divisions. The recruitment is open for male, female, and transgender candidates. A total of 1,299 posts are available under this recruitment drive, comprising 933 SI (Taluk) and 366 SI (AR). Additionally, 53 shortfall vacancies (for SC and ST categories) will be filled.

These posts fall under the Tamil Nadu Police Subordinate Service and are permanent, full-time positions. The application process is entirely online, and the portal will remain open from April 7, 2025, to May 3, 2025. ELIGIBILITY Criteria

Below are the detailed educational qualifications and age limits required for all categories under this recruitment drive.

Educational qualification

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university accepted by the UGC or the Government of India on or before the date of notification.

The degree must be obtained in any of the following patterns:

  • 10 + 2 + 3/4/5 (SSLC + Higher Secondary + Degree)
  • 10+3+2 /10+3+3 (SSLC+Diploma+Degree)
  • 10 + 2 + 3 (SSLC + ITI + diploma)

Candidates who obtained degrees through open universities without fulfilling the Above Criteria are not eligible. Additionally, those who skipped classes (e.g., passed 10th directly without 9th) are ineligible. For the meritorious sports quota, educational qualifications are the same as for open candidates.

Age limit

Candidates must be at least 20 years old to be eligible. The age limit will be reckoned as of July 01, 2025. The maximum age is determined by your category. General Category Candidates can apply up to the age of 30. Age relaxation is also applicable as per government norms.

The fee must be paid online via internet banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI. In case of payment failure or multiple deductions, TNUSRB does not offer refunds. A successful payment will be reflected in the candidate's dashboard and be acknowledged via SMS/e-mail.

Selection process

The Selection Process involves multiple steps and varies slightly depending on the post and quota. The recruitment process is systematic and includes the following phases:

  • Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
  • Endurance Test (ET)

Departmental Candidates are Exempted from PMT and PET.
